Somnium Space, the Czech-based company behind the upcoming Somnium VR1 title, has announced that pre-orders for its long-awaited PC VR title will open on June 20, with pre-orders coming first.
It’s been a long time since the Somnium VR1, which we last saw at CES 2023 when the company showed off a version of the headset. If memory doesn’t sound right, then Somnium, which also runs its own VR platform Dream Place, was also hoping to release an independent version of the headphones at some point. Due to internet issues, the company decided to abandon the standalone version to focus on the soon to be released Lighthouse PC VR title.
We are getting you very much near it now; In addition to announcing the order date, the company detailed its entire lineup, which includes eight models that are available to order starting June 20:
- Classic Edition
- Vision Printing (Eye Tracking)
- Striker Edition (Hand tracking)
- Titan Print (Eye/Hand Tracking)
- Specter Edition (Mixed Reality + Manual Tracking)
- Ultimate Edition (Mixed Vision + Eye/Hand Tracking)
- Translucent Limited Edition (Mixed Vision + Eye/Hand Tracking)
- Military Edition – Combined TAA (Mixed Sights + Eye/Hand Tracking)
This is a very attractive launch line, however the VR1 is built with modularity in mind, allowing users to choose the factory installed modules they want, with the Classic Edition starting at €1,900 (~$2,060 USD).

The company said it will begin sending a small number of emails each day to those who have booked, following a schedule based on their booking date.
In particular, each reservation is eligible for a single purchase, which may include multiple VR1 units, allowing the user’s unique codes to be used once to reduce queue jumping.
There is no time limit on how long you can buy, the company says, which is designed to give customers time to complete their purchases later, but units are on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you haven’t already reserved, new reservations are being accepted until July 10. The company will open orders to everyone on July 12 in conjunction with the day-long Somnium Connect event in Prague, Czechia. There, the company will have demonstrations, demos of the Somnium VR1, and a keynote speech by Artur Sychov, Founder & CEO of Somnium Space.
